BWL Professional Bid Services supports Facilities Management contractor’s growth strategy
The Professional Bid Services team at BWL has been helping a Facilities Management contractor with their growth strategy by assisting with Selection Questionnaire (SQ) and Invitation To Tender (ITT) submissions for school cleaning contracts. The contractor had been completing bids in-house, but with limited resources and experience, they were not having much success. They aim to achieve a £5m turnover within three years and are focusing on increasing the number of school cleaning contracts they are awarded through the tender process.
BWL contacted the contractor in October 2022 to offer external bid support. Since then, they have completed 13 SQs for cleaning services to schools in London, Essex, and Kent. Two of these have been shortlisted to the ITT stage, which BWL also provided support for. They are currently waiting for feedback on the other SQ submissions and an ITT submission for a school cleaning service framework issued by Medway Council.
BWL has worked closely with the contractor’s team to understand their vision, goals, and how they operate as an FM organisation. They have become an external bid team, providing advice and guidance on the tender process and best practices. BWL advises which case studies are best suited for specific SQ submissions based on geographic location, contract value, and alignment with the buying authority’s specifications and values. BWL allocates senior bid writers who have worked with the client over the past three months to ensure consistency of service.
All draft responses are reviewed internally by the Head of Bid Compliance for evaluation and editing. BWL conducts quality checks at all stages of every bid to ensure accuracy and compliance with the buying authority’s specifications. This process enables them to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and future development. BWL also notifies the contractor of new contract notices within their scope of work as an added value to further support their growth strategy.
BWL has a positive working relationship with this client and plans to support them with bids across all of their service offerings, including grounds maintenance and pest control, as they strive towards achieving their three-year growth strategy.
