This research aims to understand the regulatory, safety and operational requirements that would enable more
bulk mail and light goods traffic to be handled using existing station infrastructure. To do this, the work will
consider typical requirements for platform/station spaces, boarding and alighting arrangements and
management of handling equipment and passengers on platforms. The project will also consider how to
ensure efficient loading and unloading to minimise impact on other station operations.
