Our client was awarded the position to act as the web development and branding partner to The Rediscovery Centre in Dublin under a flagship initiative to increase awareness and support Ireland’s transition to a circular economy.
The five-year project is funded by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) in Ireland.
Scope
The project objective was the create a distinctive, human-centred brand and a national online platform to promote the circular economy over three core areas: branding, website development, and ongoing hosting and maintenance.
Branding
The brand objective was to engage and inspire action in a broad public audience using behavioural science and data from recent national surveys. The scope included:
- Developing at least two creative routes with supporting rationale, visual identity, and brand guidelines.
- Collaborative participation in three rounds of design iteration and end-user engagement to shape the final outcome.
- Delivering a finalised brand package, including logo, colour palette, typography, iconography, templates, and brand guidelines.
The brand needed to be adaptable for use across digital and physical media.
Website and maintenance
The website development approach had to demonstrate accessibility, security, and sustainability, with a view to providing a hub for circular economy information including information on upcoming events, how-to guides, training and funding opportunities.
The tender response was required to demonstrate:
- Compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards as a minimum
- Compatible UX/UI design optimised for all common device types
- Low-carbon coding practices and using energy-efficient infrastructure for development and hosting
- Clear training and support documentation to support Discovery Centre users to operate the completed website.
- A maintenance plan incorporating ongoing disaster recovery procedures, SLA-driven performance reporting, and clearly defined incident management processes.
Our approach:
Our client was relatively new to public sector bidding and engaged our team for support in developing compliant, high standard responses ranging from team experience to sustainability and practical implementation of the solution.
We provided a Bid Consultant to deliver dedicated support throughout the process including bid management and expert bid writing. They conducted a detailed analysis of the RFT, ensuring a clear understanding of all technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and service requirements. This informed the development of structured storyboards to capture all compliance elements and guide the response structure.
Our Consultant collaborated with their team to understand their expertise and approach to produce compelling responses that aligned their win themes with the Rediscovery Centre’s vision and objectives.
Outcome:
Through our structured, collaborative support, the client submitted successful submission resulting in their appointment as the sole provider under the five-year single-party framework agreement.
