G-Cloud 15 Framework: Everything you need to know
The G-Cloud 15 Framework is now open for applications. Whether you are an existing supplier on G-Cloud 14 or applying for the first time, our experts at BWL Professional Bid Services explain what’s new, how to apply, and how to maximise your chances of success.
What is the G-Cloud Framework?
The G-Cloud Framework, managed by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS), is a government procurement vehicle enabling public-sector organisations to source cloud-based services quickly and compliantly.
For suppliers, it provides direct access to central and local government, NHS, and other public bodies through the Digital Marketplace, eliminating the need to tender for each opportunity individually.
What’s New in G-Cloud 15
G-Cloud 15 introduces a refreshed Lot structure to better align with market evolution and cloud service maturity. The framework now features the following five Lots:
Lot 1a – Cloud Hosting (IaaS / PaaS)
Cloud infrastructure or platform services allowing organisations to deploy, manage and operate software, and provision processing, storage, and networking resources.
Lot 1b – Cloud Hosting (above “official” security classification)
Core Iaas and PaaS subscription services above “official” security classification.
Lot 2a – Infrastructure Software as a Service (iSaaS)
Software applications hosted in the cloud providing infrastructure-related functionality.
Lot 2b – Software as a Service (SaaS)
Standard cloud-hosted applications accessed via subscription, focusing on quality and user outcomes as assessed under the framework’s quality award criteria.
Lot 3 – Cloud Support
Professional services supporting cloud adoption, migration, and ongoing management. This includes:
- Cloud strategy and migration planning
- Set-up and configuration
- Security and assurance testing
- Performance optimisation
- Training and change management
- Ongoing support and maintenance
Lot 3 also covers further competition for larger or more complex service requirements.
Do Existing G-Cloud 14 Suppliers Need to Reapply?
Yes. Suppliers listed under G-Cloud 14 must reapply to remain eligible. Once G-Cloud 15 is active, previous listings will be removed from the Digital Marketplace.
How to Apply for G-Cloud 15
Suppliers apply through the Crown Commercial Service Digital Marketplace. To apply, suppliers must:
- Be registered with Companies House
- Hold a valid DUNS number
- Create or update a supplier account on the CCS portal
The process can be complex and compliance-sensitive. That’s why BWL Professional Bid Services offers expert G-Cloud 15 application support, managing everything from eligibility checks to submission.
