Transport Scotland, acting for the Scottish Government, has pinpointed a requirement for specialized Ground Investigation (GI) services to aid the progression of infrastructure initiatives. This acquisition involves setting up a Multi-supplier Framework Agreement (MSFA) with several contractors specializing in ground investigations to perform and document GI activities of different sizes, complexities, and values. These services are essential for the development of trunk road and other transport-related infrastructure projects under the direction of the Scottish Government via Transport Scotland. Upon finalizing the MSFA, specific GI contracts may be allocated through mini-competitions or alternative methods as outlined in the Agreement. The MSFA categorizes into two Lots based on the projected value of each GI contract to be awarded.

This framework will enable the Contracting Authority to engage in Call-off Contracts for services related to Electrical Maintenance and Minor Installation Work. The work scope often occurs in intricate, occupied, and functioning clinical settings. In these environments, the Contractor is required to adhere to stringent guidelines and control measures, including Infection Control Risk Assessments, Policies, Procedures, and Permit Systems. Any Call-off Contracts issued under this Framework Agreement will adopt the NEC4 Term Service Short Contract format, modified as per the Contracting Authority’s specifications. The scope of minor works includes projects such as the construction of new buildings, additions to current structures, renovation/refurbishment of existing properties, and compliance activities related to various legislative standards (for instance, regulations concerning legionella, fire safety, DDA, asbestos), as well as mechanical and electrical engineering tasks and preparatory actions for forthcoming major capital projects.

Scotland’s Railway is gearing up to launch the procurement process for its lineside framework in the summer of 2024. A briefing session for potential suppliers is scheduled for the week beginning on the 25th, offering a chance for participants to provide feedback on the planned approaches. Network Rail is organising an online engagement briefing via Microsoft Teams to discuss this procurement activity. The virtual meeting is set for Wednesday, 27th March 2024, at 3 pm and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Interested entities are encouraged to confirm their participation through the BRAVO platform. Invitation links for the meeting will be distributed on Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of the Wednesday call.
