Commercial Property solicitor (Tamworth or London)

An opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Property Solicitor to join a boutique law firm specialising in property and construction law.

The role

Located in our Darlington office, the successful candidate will possess an excellent technical knowledge of all areas of non-contentious commercial property transactions including freehold and leasehold acquisitions, issues relating to property developments, landlord and tenant and secured lending.

Initially, this role will report into a Director who also leads the Commercial Property team. The successful candidate will be required to conduct and manage their own cases from initial instruction through to conclusion. You will also assist in marketing and business development of the department and firm. You will play a key role in driving the commercial property department forwards and using the firm’s client relationships as a solid foundation, you will build upon the existing caseload and develop new business.

The candidate

  • Solicitor of England and Wales
  • Minimum of 2 years PQE

Bid Consultant (Darlington or Tamworth)

The Role:

BWL is a legal and professional services group that has an exciting opportunity for a Bid Manager/Senior Bid Manager to carry out the role of a Bid Consultant. The role includes writing and coordinating proposals that clearly articulate a clients organisation value proposition.

The position will suit an ambitious Bid Manager looking to take the next step in their career to being a Bid Consultant.

On a day to day basis, a Bid Consultant will act as a dedicated bid resource to complete bids for a range of clients. Only one bid or tender is assigned to a Bid Consultant at any one time, allowing our Bid Consultants to focus on one bid at a time (and have a life!).

The Salary: £52,000 p/a

Job Location: Darlington or Tamworth (with the flexibility to operate from home at least twice a week)

Bonus: A bonus is applied for every bid the consultant supports


Responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to Managing Director of Professional Bid Services
  • Managing / liaising with clients at various levels
  • Produce accurate and complete responses to PQQ’s, RFI’s, RFQ’s and ITT’s.
  • Gather information from technical contacts to support the development of
    responses
  • Reviewing responses and proofreading
  • Developing corporate presentations
  • Managing sales from existing clients

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will hold the following skills and qualifications:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Bid Management experience
  • Experienced in developing a range of responses for construction, utilities, rail or highways contracts.
  • Degree level education (creative writing, marketing, journalism, business management, business economics or similar)
  • Intuitive
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • APMP Proposal Management knowledge (preferable but not essential)

Assistant Accountant

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Assistant Accountant to join BWL Group reporting directly to the Finance Director.

About the firm

BWL Group is comprised of a solicitors firm, quantity surveying practice and a leading bid writing consultancy. Despite Brexit and Covid-19, the group has continued to experience significant year-on-year growth.

We now need an additional Assistant Accountant to support our teams based in London, Darlington and Tamworth.

The role

This is a very hands-on role with responsibility for a range of activities including accounts payable, month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliation, intercompany recharges and management reporting and analysis.

There are excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate and the role will grow as the Group grows and additional recruitment is made by the Finance Department.

This role is a full-time and permanent position based in our Tamworth office.

Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable, Expenses and weekly Payment Run
  2. Weekly credit control
  3. Daily bank reconciliations.
  4. Answering client enquiries.
  5. Assisting in Month End closing including processing payroll journal, pension submission, payments, intercompany charges, and balance sheet reconciliations for all entities.
  6. Maintain fixed asset register in the accounting system and the HR system for the employee assets profile.
  7. Maintain Legal client account ledger on daily basis. This includes recording and reconciling all transactions on a daily basis.
  8. Maintain the interface data integrity between the legal matter management system and the accounting system.
  9. Answering clients’ queries about the client account transactions.
  10. Assisting in billing when it’s required.

The candidate

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a finance department.
  • Part qualified with an accounting professional qualification.

Construction Solicitor (Tamworth or Hybrid)

The Role

An opportunity has arisen at BWL Legal for a commercially astute and ambitious Construction Solicitor. This role is aimed at a solicitor with between 4 and 6 years pqe who will form part of a multi-disciplinary team. The team advises clients on all elements of property and infrastructure projects including land, corporate/commercial, construction and finance.

About You

You will be a confident Construction Solicitor and be on the roll of solicitors in England and Wales. Your work will require you to have an in-depth understanding of NEC3/4 and JCT contracts as a minimum. In your role you will provide advice on high value infrastructure contracts and supports clients in negotiating terms and conditions. You will also have experience in drafting a range of bespoke and standard form contracts used in construction including construction contracts, sub-contracts, deeds of appointment, collateral warranties, performance bonds, etc.

The ideal candidate will come from a good regional or national firm and have a solid background in a relevant area of practice.
