At BWL Group, we continually invest in our team’s growth alongside our clients. We’re pleased to highlight recent achievements by three team members who have completed important professional development programmes, enhancing both our leadership and bid-writing expertise.
Leadership with Vision: Lisa and Sean Complete Harvard Business School’s Organizational Leadership Programme
Directors Lisa and Sean recently completed Harvard Business School Online’s Organizational Leadership course. This intensive, eight-week programme is tailored for senior leaders, focusing on strategic thinking, team leadership, and managing organisational change.
Key areas covered in the course include:
- Identifying misalignments between organisational dynamics and external market conditions
- Communicating purpose and vision to inspire effective execution
- Leading effectively through other managers to extend influence
- Adapting leadership styles to manage larger, more dispersed teams
- Developing strategies for organisational change and innovation initiatives
- Shaping organisational culture and structure to maximise talent, leverage diversity, and drive performance
Throughout the programme, Lisa and Sean explored real-world case studies from international organisations and engaged with experienced academics. They also participated in valuable discussions with senior leaders from various sectors, providing a broader understanding of global leadership challenges.
Lisa shared her experience:
“Completing the Harvard Business School Organizational Leadership Programme gave me space to step back, challenge my thinking, and refine how I approach leadership. It pushed me outside my comfort zone, including tasks like recording corporate announcements on video, scored by peers, and strengthened my ability to define company values, shape vision and direction, and build effective operational structures. I particularly valued the insights from directors at McAfee, General Mills, Levi Strauss, and Bank Leumi – all leaders who embody the roles of Beacon, Architect, and Catalyst for Change in complex organisations. The skills I gained will undoubtedly support me in working with our clients to develop winning tenders and in understanding businesses on a deeper level. “
Sean reflected:
“The Harvard Business School Organizational Leadership Programme was a powerful opportunity to sharpen my strategic leadership skills. I’m proud to work for BWL Group, where professional development is a genuine priority – an investment that enables us to lead with clarity and deliver exceptional results for our clients.”
Lisa and Sean now have additional tools to enhance their leadership effectiveness, driving organisational performance, and guiding BWL confidently through an evolving industry landscape.
Raising the Bar in Bid Delivery: David Achieves APM Qualification
In parallel, Senior Bid Writer David has obtained the Association for Project Management (APM) qualification. APM is the chartered professional body for project management in the UK.
The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) covers core project management principles, such as:
- Understanding project life cycles
- Effective stakeholder engagement
- Managing risks and resolving issues
- Planning resources and schedules
For David, who frequently handles complex, high-stakes tenders, this qualification has deepened his understanding of project management structures and controls. This knowledge is essential in crafting compelling bids that resonate strongly with clients.
David explained:
“The APM Project Fundamentals course has provided me with enhanced knowledge of the project management lifecycle and the terminology that surrounds it. I’ve found it has provided two main benefits; I can manage larger bids more effectively through a more structured approach to planning, resource allocation, and time management. This increases efficiency and the overall quality of the bid. Secondly, I can now further appreciate how our clients will manage the projects they are tendering for, especially in the construction industry. Knowing more about how they are likely to work makes gathering information and articulating their methods easier, due to a shared understanding of the project management process.”
David’s achievement highlights BWL’s dedication to technical proficiency, reinforcing the belief that exceptional bids are produced by professionals who fully understand project delivery.
Continuous Learning and Development
These achievements reflect our broader commitment at BWL Group to fostering a culture of continuous professional improvement. By supporting our team’s education and skill development, we ensure we’re always delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Congratulations again to Lisa, Sean, and David on their achievements.
